I'm back my friends with the next installment in my Franglais series, where this week I call on the impeccable Camille Charriere who gives me some style tip on how to dress like a French woman...

  • Jeans are overrated! Once I turned 53, I stopped wearing them alltogether. Instead I found my love for dresses and skirts and everything costume like, as in cos play and dressing in historical inspired garments. Becoming more and more ME, not following trends, not always dressing for others anymore, but dressing for myself. Having fun and feeling comfortable ... feeling beautiful is finding ones very own style.

  • The most of so-called french style, especially country-side fashion doesn't fit the most of Asian girls because of the height, the body frame and overall feeling. Super easy to be like a hick. So Asian girls, be careful.

  • No one is different and everyone dresses how they think they should dress or how much they can afford to dress in ways that they think they should be dressing. The trick is to look like you can afford the best but act like you can't be bothered because you are much too cool and too important to waste your precious time or immense intellect. And if you care it means giving tacit compliments to the vendor, the wearer, the designer, even the culture... and the French would rather die an evil death than compliment anyone.

  • Growing up I was always mesmerized by the Parisian fashion then I realized its not what I thought at all, this style is very boring and giving me grandpa vibes not even grandma, i thought the parisian fashion focuses on femininity and elegance but this is hideous and just looks lazy, i guess this is the modern version of parisian style? Maybe the vintage 50’s -60’s is what I grew up thinking its their fashion? Long rant short im disappointed

I understand that there are different styles depending on the person’s likes, but I’d like to know what you, french girls, usually wear. • But, very important, that is NOT how to hold a baguette in Paris! When you pop into the Boulangerie on your way home, they give you a piece of wrap paper that they hand it to you in (so as not to touch the baguette of course), or you use the wax paper next to the bag of baguettes, and use that to handle it. Then you wrap it (diagonally to be precise) around the baguette and hold it under your arm (up high by the armpit)... you then pay and walk home, with it tucked under your arm! Leaving your hands, of course, free!

  • Do y’all call all jeans “Levi’s” or just by the brand name? It seems as if you were using it whilst speaking in general terminology. I am much older than y’all, so I can vouch for the fact that the stretch-denim-fiber type jeans hasn’t been around forever! I was a teen in the 80’s & we all wore extremely fitted jeans! Now that I’m older, a mom & grandma, & somewhat “fluffier” than I was at 18...I LOVE stretch fibers! I’ve grown quite fond of breathing! I am not at the age or physical condition where I would feel comfortable with tight jeans anymore. However, even more professionally tailored jeans do tend to make a body look more structured and an outfit more put together. Tailored doesn’t have to be tight! Fitting close to your curves just simply is an outline of the body. (Growing up, we often had to have our mother roll our hair at night and we slept on these terrible, painful rollers! I heard the same phrase every time...”it hurts to be beautiful”! Blessings 🙏
