  • I love all the actors in this movie, even the actors/actresses I am not familiar with. SPOILER ALERT!!!! This move was completely stupid and I knew I should not have dared myself to watch it. SPOILER ALERT. getting to the point, this movie was no more than about how the white record execs lied to and robbed these musicians and in the end the man who go fired stabbed another man in the back and killed him simply for shoes getting stepped on. Denzel Washington who played in nothing but box office smash hits should have taken lessons from Spike Lee on how to produce and direct a movie. Denzel should be ashamed of himself for the way he produced this short story that was none the less produced by George C. Wolfe. What a disappointment this movie is.

Everybody did an excellent job but Boseman went to another level with the character of Levee, you could tell that he put his all into it and the whole time he was so sick and nobody knew.

He was so cute, beautiful beyond talented actor .He was still doing his career during chemotherapy and surgeries. No matter what he went through. That's a hero. It was mainly about Chadwick's character Levve.. Instead of naming the movie Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, they should have named it Levve's Fool A$$...

  • The Film was interesting and upsetting Denzel and cast members etc. I can't say that I like or dislike because I'm currently taken back in my emotions and thoughts. What I saw in the character was division, lack of respect, and anger. I didn't see the unity of support for each other. I saw a group of Black people trying to survive together in a still racist time. They didn't love each other. I think the old man said it eloquent when he described the contents of the soup and identified himself as the leftover. As I watched the Film I perceived what I was seeing is the aftermath of slavery. The deep emotional and psychological wounding of slavery and the present time of 1927 racial divide and violence committed against Black people. ALL the Actors did a FANTASTIC Job of acting and I think that is what has me perplexed in my emotions and thoughts. They conveyed a lot of "raw" emotions; especially, the son whose mother was ganged raped by 8-9 white men. I've watched many slavery movies was appalled by the things that I learned was done to Black people; however, I think this one takes the cake even though slavery was abolished by this time period. As I said "ALL" the Actors did a FANTASTIC JOB of conveying "raw" emotions and troubling thoughts. Through the whole I waited for Ma to "cool-down"; but she didn't. I saw nothing but anger and murder in her eyes. I thought it was going to be her to commit a violent acts; but it turns out to be the young man and he didn't against his own people. Surely I thought he would take his anger out on the manager while standing on the steps; but he didn't. He instead took his anger and hurt out on the old man. This Film TRULY is an Award winner in every aspect. I usually leave my Reviews with a request for more; but not this time. I never again want to see another Film centered around Black people that has no happy ending. Good luck Guys; and thanks for a thought provoking Film that captured my emotions.
