This was fascinating! Especially about the banana disease, GMO and the ripening process- thanks for the video I definitely learnt something!
✧◝(⁰▿⁰)◜✧
Who needs einstein when we have ann reardon
I agreee!
Hi
for those of you that don't know...the image she showed of a 'wild banana' is what a cavendish banana looked like before GMOs were added to it. We weren't initially meant to eat bananas, but due to shortages in food sources, food supplies, etc, they modified the banana to be what it is now. So if someone ever says 'I love an organic banana. I don't believe in GMOs', you can mess with them if you like, and break the news that their non-gmo dream just got shattered. Just a bit of a fun fact for you.
Dave said "even monkeys peel bananas" 🤣😂
26:45
The work this woman is doing is colossal (in the best possibly imagined sense): she not only does killer research (kudos!) and comes up with down-to-earth "classes" in her videos; she is confronting the "farms" along with whoever and whatever may be behind them. She is like a lone hero trying her best for at least a few (ten-? hundred-?) thousands to see what YT and other platforms have become. All this without calling revolution or screaming death to capitalism. BRAVA!
Dave :- “Do we trust her?” Me :- “Oh yes, more than anyone else on PAworld”
GMO isn’t the evil of all evils. Like all things it depends on the modification. Botanists have been modifying plants long before people understood what it was
YES CHOCOLATE BANANA°0° We always do them in camps on a campfire and it’s so awesome aaaaaah
I must have been watching this, when I fell asleep. Because I had a dream about a guy putting banana juice on his face, for health. But the guy in my dream, was spinning the banana in a mechanism, to get the juices to the tip (real dream) . Hmmmmm.... #1, .... not gay. #2, I don't believe in most "natural cure" videos. #3, (I just made and ate pop-tarts for the first time in 30 years.)
Plant abuuuuuse . Bad five minute crafts >:(
Cooked banana’s delicious what are u talking about
ive gotten so many bad sunburns and burn worse with sunscreen so i just dont go outside also how can you read a book in the sun just go inside
*No plants and fruits were harmed in the making of this vide...oh wait*
Bananas ROTAT E
There are cuisines where people do & have been eating banana peels along with the banana. But we don't eat it raw (we cook it with other ingredients) & we don't eat the ripe ones peel. Just thought it's an interesting fact . They do have nutritional value. It's just a cultural thing. I guess it could be weird for others
I love watching these video until i remember i used to eat pancake with rice edit 1:word's
I dont know why Chanel like 5 minute craft still around
Do you see Banana Man?
I warned you about this some time ago - no shame for forgetting about that lol - but this video has been going around on my social media for some time and I'd love to see your take on it all. WARNING - Extremely annoying audio, please mute it or your ears will bleed. va.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_pb57qowicY1w4vglm.mp4 Features such marvellous highlights as: * No actual quantities of ingredients * Microwave action * Gives up on describing what things they're dipping stuff into or adding to the thing. in progress * WTF ingredients euw why would you eat that WHYYYY?
Ann: I’ll just get some rosemary from my garden Me: I’ll just get that one lonely flower from my very lonely garden
*People are afraid of what they don't understand.* Only those that don't have chemical knowledge are afraid of all "chemicals", even though we are literally made of them, when they really mean carcinogens. People that don't know how genetic modification works either, and will avoid GMO foods because they think it's inherently bad, but don't know why foods are being modified in the first place (like avoiding disease in the plants) or how many genetically modified foods they're actually eating on a weekly basis. Knowledge is the only way to defeat ignorance induced fear.
I would be more then fine eating the genetically modified banana. Especially if one was bread to have the sugars ripen into pretty much any sugar other then fructose. I can't have more fructose so I have to eat fairly green bananas or really small portions of them.
The banana beads looked like they actually got darker. Love these videos. Awesome.
The thumbnail is real but only one person can do that R U P U N Z E L ' S H A I R
The banana with chocolate is actually called a Banana Boat. We made them in Girl Scouts/Girl Guides. When you cut the wedge, leave the peel attached. Add in chocolate, marshmallows, or whatever you like. Put the peel back in place, wrap it in aluminum foil, and put it at the edge of a campfire (or in a microwave) for a few minutes to let it all get melty and gooey.
I love how Ann says with a smile, "should you eat that? I don't know, let's cook it up and give it to Dave to try!" Poor Dave!
I enjoyed the segment about sun safety but as a resident of Scotland, we have a very weak sun so getting sunburnt would be a real achievement 😂😂☀️ P. S I'm being sarcastic, Obvs sunburn is very serious and you should always wear suncream 😊
I have no issue with GMOs. I think a lot of the fear and apprehension around them comes from misinformation. If someone you trusted told you that GMO meant someone was taking frog DNA and implanting it into human embryos, you'd probably be upset, too. The best way to combat misinformation is with research, trust and patience. Once someone has been indoctrinated to believe that vaccines cause autism and hormonal birth control is turning the frogs gay, it takes a lot to undue that damage.
Stores near me always use plastic wrap on the tips, they better get smart and save money on plastic wrap.
14:10-ish: We used to make baked bananas a little like that at guide camp on the campfire (and we were told if you want to do it at home, bake them in the oven (about 10 mins). Only difference, we peeled the banana, did just one slit down it and pressed in chocolate buttons (and occasionally sprinkles), then wrapped it tight in tinfoil to bake. In all honesty, when I've been short on money, or feeling very nostalgic, I've made it since, but it's not the world's greatest dessert (a baked apple is way better).
Lucky me who live in Brazil, where a normal supermarket has at least 5 different types of bananas
Hi Ann, here is one life hacks by 5-minute crafts: paworld.info/face/v/n2dqpqTamqeKr44 its at 1:24. Best wishes!
In principle I have no problem with GMO food. Earlier methods to increase rate of mutation (used since the 1950s) use radiation to induce random mutations and then kept mutated varieties that had benefits. This is not labeled as GMO I think (citation needed). So, I personally prefer this more specific introduction of the specific gene into the plant. My only problem with GMO is when they introduce a gene to make it resistant to a specific pesticide so farmers can heavily spray them, or modify a plant such that it can't grow without fertilizers from a company. It is the pesticide and the ability of farmers to afford seeds/fertilizers I worry about, not the modified plant.
paworld.info/face/v/k4KwzZaixpFplZw Ma'am I'm big fan of you please tell us explain this video
the banana in the mircowave with chocolate is almost right. You should put it in aluminiumfoil and put it "over" the fire for a outdoor dessert.
I want to say Aloe Vera shouldnt be left outside or it can get overvwatered, you should put it in like a sun room
the banana and chilli pepper is to make a banana pepper grow clearly
So yummy has a app?!?! I just now found out
Could you do more debunking videos of SoYummy cooking recipes and give them to Dave to try? His reviews are my favorite part of your videos.
Bananas are the most favourite fruit in the world! Apples: ._.
GMO is what we did since we existed. We modified Animals and plants by breeding/inbreeding and whatnot. That is the EXACT same just more "modern". People need to chill out and stop going after people growing it and focus their Time on actual Health issues
My mom would use the bag u put the bananas in at the grocery store and she would use that to wrap th bannas
You actually didn’t do the pulled pork one the right way (so didn’t 5MC). In order to make it, you have to use overripe bananas. Also, it would make it better to fry it in the oven for a little bit after frying it in the pan.
GMOs are good, we need more of them and less organic.
did anyone else get scared of the wild banana with huge seeds bc of the sudden pop up, music, and tryptophobia lol
Please debunk this video. paworld.info/face/v/pKZ6pZCjuYSpraA
Anne I don't want this to be a Bad For Dave her every other video:dave taste my probably dangerous good
What a waste of good fruits
Can you please check the channel DaveHax next for this series? They showcased one of the banana hacks in this video, and ever since I've had distrust in some of their life hacks.
Ann could you do a house or a room tour? It's okay if your not fine with it but I would love to see your house, loved the video Ann 😍❤️
Hi, I have a video I am wondering is real or not( paworld.info/face/v/loCl0ZbPsYuZnHE
The plastic wrap works for me.🤷🏽♂️ Ive tried the fridge, hanging, wrap, just leaving them on the table, inside a plastic bag as well. I normally just wrap the tops or hang them. I dont like gmos. I prefer all natural. But idk if I could be without bananas. If this was really a natural issue they would evolve. But humans really do cause most of the issues.
When she showed the pictures of the bananas with seed my Trypophobia was like nope 🤢
In Brazil we wrap the bananas to ripe them faster not slower hahaha.
We started putting our bananas in a plastic bag a few years ago because my brother’s girlfriend (who was living with us) absolutely hated the smell when they were sitting out and we discovered that the bananas stayed ripe longer
Ok the account “so tasty” in a lot if there videos have a “yum up” logo in the bottom left corner

the banana and chocolate thing is actually something people do for dessert! but like.. not at home maybe, but out while camping! I've done it at several camps and on hikes! but then you wrap it in tinfoil and put it by the fire. Some pair it with marshmallows as well!
If Ethel Yan gas comes out of the top of the banana then we discovered ethylene banana guns lol
Even monkeys peel banana -dave
We have been genetically modifying food for over 10000 years or more. Pretty much everything humans eat that doesn't just grow naturally in a forest (and even then it might have been genetically modified by humans long ago and re-entered wild ecosystems) is a GMO. Orange carrots are a GMO, Corn is a GMO, Wheat is a GMO, the Cavendish Banana is a GMO, pigs are GMO, sheep are GMO even dogs are GMO. Just because we've become more efficient and can now do it over the course of 2-3 years with high-tech laboratories doesn't make it any different than selectively breeding over multiple decades.
The banana uv beads look darker than the control!! Dangerous!!
Anti-GMO sentiment is idiotic fear mongering, if there were any issues we would have seen them years ago. The amount of safety testing it need for approval to market is so great that any GMO with a chance of having an issue would have been screened out anyways. GMO, unlike radiated or mutation bred crops need to be tested and labelled despite being safer as less DNA is changed and we know what the changes are, anyone who is against GMO need to pick up a secondary school (middle school) biology textbook
I can’t eat raw bananas. I’m allergic 🥺
My mom does wrap the top of the banana and it actually works i- 😞🤝
The banana with the large hard seed really triggers me i just want to see the seeds pulled out ahhhhh
She must have a lot of money because she’s just wasting food.
A channel that you should look at is 123go, I know you like making those videos so I think you would have some fun looking at the fake stuff they put in their channel!
Thanks by the universe, I hate Banana! ... and I'm proud of it. :-)
rip dave
I wonder if they cld just graft the good banana plants onto the wild banana roots, like they’ve done for all sorts of fruits. In the other fruits, it’s made them disease resistant, hardier, etc. Then the fungus couldn’t clog up the roots...? I’d love to learn more about this. Thanks for your fascinating & fun vids!
Even monkeys peel bananas 😂😂😂
Am I the only person who doesn’t like bananas?
Insert comment about poor poor husband here, except it was actually okay for him this time.
13:54 that's greek
A banana video on a cooking channel during the Covid pandemic that doesn’t contain a recipe for banana bread
People deep-fry banana peels in Thailand, it's tasty
Ann Reardon is the best youtuber ever like i know so much now :^}
Most fruit is genetcly modafide
I honestly believe that if Selective Breeding is considered okay to do, then Genetic Modification is okay to do. The idea that 'messing with nature is wrong' is no longer valid reasoning. Humans have been messing with genetics since they learned agriculture. The only difference is one doesn't take as long. I mean, I know the horror story ideas of creating something ultimately dangerous to humans, but Genetic Modification is a critical step for Human development. Having food that grows faster and better could significantly help places in the world that struggle. Genetic Modifications could get rid of several genetic problems like cancer and heart disease. I could extend that average life span of not only humans, but other animals we hold dear as well.
Oh I have a big fridge that is 55 degrees it's called out side yes I know it's the middle of the winter and the stat I live in is right next to Canada and Canada is realy cold soooooo something's of
I'm noticing lot's of people not understanding the difference between selective breeding and GMO's. Selective breeding is taking traits that are already present in the population and making it so that the group you want to use all has that specific trait. GMO's on the other hand is taking that trait and inserting it into the genome of the individual. It should also be noted that they use traits that are only found in different species and insert this foreign trait into the organism.
10:13 what?
Id like to point out a few things regarding the banana peels: 1- "meat alternatives" do not necessarily need to be high in protein when its serving as replacement in a dish like a burger there are many ways of getting your protein it doesn't need to serve in the exact position an animal product was. there are many ways of getting your protein needs met 2- banana peels are actually healthy. Banana peels are packed with polyphenols, carotenoids, and other antioxidants that fight cancer-causing free radicals in your body which is very different from labeling them as "non toxic" or something you'd eat if there isn't enough food. 3- banana peels are clearly texturally and structurally different from animal flesh so they should be cooked differently. you should know that and the way they were cooked in this video was horrible and that was made clear by just looking at the end product. obviously I wasn't expecting a culinary masterpiece from a 5 minutes crafts video but its should be pointed out that the issue here is the the recipe and cooking method rather than the use of banana peels in itself. I get that non vegans can be unfamiliar with meat alternatives and their cooking methods but if you're going to talk about it, the least you can do is not be so condescending.
Hi Ann I have a simple but very yummy smoothie recipe I think you probably have made this before it's 2 cheekus, 2 kiwis and one banana maybe add some milk and some sugar oof it tastes so good I'm eating/drinking it right now
@24:05 therefore put the banana inside a plastic and place it in the fridge. :)
I love how informative you are. Thank you!
Love how you brought attention to something I didn’t even know at the end for us to be aware of
Thats a Lot of bananas
When life gives you overripe banana, make fried smashed banana! (Its tasty)
As a Botanist I saw that plant hack video and most of the time I was like “what” most of those could be done with less of the faffing around with bananas.
Ann, because you are such a wonderfully nice person and wouldn't say it on your channel, I will say it for you: Anyone who believes any of those 5-Minute video channels information/facts are true, are complete idiots and morons. Just had to get that off my chest.
Selective breeding is another form of GMO. So I don't see why it's such a big deal. We've been doing it for thousands of years....
I think most people who are very passionately against all GMOs are maybe a bit ignorant about what GMOs are. I mean, if your whole idea about what GMOs are is Monsanto, then it's quite understandable you'd be against it. But it seems some people are afraid GMOs will cause some hormonal problems and whatnot, and surely that's more likely to happen because of certain fertilizers and pesticides, no? GMOs save lives sometimes, let's not be so against them
