  • Living in rural America it’s very interesting how we were raised very differently, this stuff is very natural to most of us- most everyone has a garden, along with big and small farm animals 🐓 🐑 🐄 🐖 🐎. Fertilizer from the animals by spreading the manure on the gardens happened naturally because we had to clean the barns and stalls, it had to go somewhere. Bee keeping, fruit trees, wood chopping, food storage also was in rural families. Hearing how you guys call your 3 acres a farm is odd- considering! But it’s cute too- and I get it land is not easy or cheap to come by in California. Hearing how you want to teach others- I would say California or urban areas is definitely where you want to stay. Homesteading was not called homesteading here it was/ is just a way of life growing up. I see many rural kids want to give it up because it is a lot of work and maintenance, they want to live in the cities having corporate jobs. City dwellers want to “ homestead” and have dreams of property. Funny the saying “ you want what you don’t already have” seems true to human nature. Your children will not regret the wholesome land lifestyle you teach them - but they may also go off and choose a corporate job and apartment instead!

  • I have watched you for the longest and as an ethical vegan, I appreciate you wanting your animals to live as animals and as companions to your family. I do wish you would call “harvesting animals” what it is - which is killing them. But again I SO appreciate you mentioning that you won’t impregnate your goats for the sole purpose of providing milk and that you do feed your chickens eggs back to them. So thank you.

  • I grew up on a farm from which my grandpa did slaughter his animals for meat, sell cattle and grew vegetables etc. yet I was never happy as a child to help on the farm and saw it as a chore and now that I’m an adult I’m so thankful for the childhood values that 1 care farm has taught me. My family 25 years after is moving to our 14 acre dream farm with a creek and horse stables and I look forward to your garden and herb content as it is something I want to dabble in. Thank you so much for your insight. I’ve watched you since 2012 and admire how you’re family has evolved into a wholesome lifestyle 💚💚💚

Here’s one example, there have been others: www.columbusunderground.com/event/farm-to-table-dinner-series/2019-09-20 (maybe a brunch version to avoid meat). There is also a caterer I work for occasionally that has scaled her farm into a full wedding venue: www.jorgensen-farms.com

I've recently had the same experience of learning to garden and take care of some land - my boyfriend and I have lived in our apartment for 13 years and we just moved into our first house this past summer. We've already planted 24 trees, blueberry bushes, and a big container garden. We just built some raised beds for next spring and started composting. Everything we've done we've learned from a PAworld video. We've never had land or ever planted anything before but it's a fun learning experience for sure! It's exciting and feels good to take pride in the work and seeing what grows! Keep up the great videos, your farm is amazing!

    • @onthebeautyadventure I believe Arkansas is one of the most beautiful State in America, but underrated. I visited in 2017 and was blown away by the most amazing sunsets in Perryville, went a music festival in the Ozarks, plus, the natural spring water and hot springs. I am back home in West Africa, but hope to visit again one day. Blessings 🌿🌊
